A kittypet once told me that twolegs believe in beings called angels, and that they believe in the stars.
It all started many moons ago at a Gathering. The leader of the Shadowclan suggested the most blasphemous thing any cat has ever heard: to forgo the Warrior's code. At first, the clans protested, even his own clan, at the thought of ignoring the laws laid down by the Starclan. But he reasoned that it was that code, those laws, that were hindering the clans from achieving the ultimate peace. The clans decided to try the idea until the next Gathering, then they will make the final desicion.
Angels are guardian beings much like the Starclan. They too reside in the sky.
The next Gathering came, and all the clans found the idea a success. The cats enjoyed their ability to bond with cats in other clans. The cats were most enthralled by the ability to have mates in other clans without repercussions; medicine cats more so as they were given the ability to have a mate. The only cats that were not pleased with the change were the elders, who warned the cats that they were sealing their fate.
All beings can become angels when they pass away. The kittypet told me.
Many moons passed and several generations of cats have lived in the blissful peace that has been achieved when the cats let go of their traditions. But in doing so, the Starclan's grasp over them weakens. Medicine cats have been receiving less and less messages from the Starclan, and so have the rest of the cats. And so when they released their hold over the cats, the cats were not surprised at all when they weren't receiving any more prophecies.
And if the being was good in the eyes of their Starclan.
But with the disapearance of the Starclan from their lives, so was the Starclan's protection over them. Many moons passed before Newleaf arrived and with it's arrival came along the twolegs. The cats didn't mind them. Well, they didn't mind them at first, until one of the kits fell sick after drinking water from the lake. It died soon afterwards, causing the clan to go into panic. Add to that the twolegs eating up their territory and the other animals that the twolegs brought and the whole clan was in chaos.
But what if their Starclan abandons them, you ask?
They divided themselves back into four clans, deciding by their abilities and which land they want to live in. The four clans are more vicious than ever, protecting their land and their sick comrades. Without the guidance of the Starclan, what will the cats do? Will they find a way to redeem themselves and their anscestors in the eyes of the Starclan or will they find a way to return to that once blissful peace they once had?
Then they become like us. They become fallen angels. Perhaps if we believe in the stars, the clan of stars will come back to us.
