Her lips touched the water on the mountain paths. She had been parched from her journey along the paths that led all over the mountain. The only thing that held her paws to walking was the remembrance of her joy and wonder. Not long ago she learned she was pregnant with Briarstar's kits. Of course she was happy, she was beyond happy it was just she had no idea how to be a mother. Her mother wasn't alive to tell her such things and all she had was an obsessive father.
She had no idea how to take good from all that. Her heart was simply afraid of the coming future for her kits. There was no doubt she loved them and would love them forever, but could she be that strong to hold the world for them? Her eyes faded as she collapsed on the ground in worry. All the evening dust flew around Fadedheart in a great array of beauty.
"Oh StarClan," she sighed," What will I do?"

A grey shadow moved silently from inder a holly bush, its paws small, still showing signs of youth. " I think you should follow your instincs, and listen to what your heart tells you Fadedheart." Stepping to the she cat side, the little tom looked at her with honest sympathy." Starclan will help you, along with all the clan." The shadow said to the she cat. This shadow had a name, that could be none other than Shadowpaw, with his grey eyes, warm and truth full to match his grey pelt." My mom has had the same issue you are. Now she is a great mother and the entire clan knows it..." He said kindly hoping he was helping the she cat...

Her amber-yellow eyes starred up now at the small tom. She smiled with content as she gave him a kind flick with her tail. What her instincts told her was hard to know at this point but she sighed anyway, knowing it would show soon. With a soft movement she sat up and looked at Shadowpaw. There were memories in her mind as she looked at this tom, "Your mother is an amazing she-cat." As she starred at him she blinked with another thought, "I remember when you were just a kit," she smiled with a warm purr.

Shadowkit purred with her." I remeber playing with laying on Rontustar's paws while me sister wanted me to play wither her. " Now the apprenice laughed." I also remeber running through your paws, a knocking into them twice. I can still remeber how it feels." he chuckled.

She smiled as the tom spoke of that wonderful day. With a wide grin she spoke once more, "And out of so many kits you still stuck out." Her eyes went back to the picture of Rontustar and that day. Another smile lapped across her face as she spoke, "You still do," she purred. She blinked at the young tom again and smiled, "But that's not a bad thing."

She looked above in that starry pelt as if looking to find an ocean of faces. Her eyes echoed to them but were lost in the twinkling stars. A small voice was overpowered by the sheer might of StarClan but still strong here on earth. With a sigh she did not take her eyes away from the stars, "Yes, I wonder as well." Rontustar was not the only one she wondered for. Many had died in her time to make her wonder where they stood and even, where she would stand as well. One great look of kindness came from her as she lowered her eyes to Shadowpaw and with a heavy heart laid her tail over his shoulder, "They may have. StarClan has a different fate for all of us," she looked off a bit, "All the fates are unique and hard to carry. Take his teachings so you may be ready for your fate young Shadowkit."

The smoky tom smiled..." Shadowkit, at times I wish that was still my name. Not having to deal with apprentice duties, spending my days next to my mother, being visited by all the clan, along with Rontustar, and Seasonstar while he was a deputy...I miss the old Skyclan... before the war, before everything changed. Things were so simple, and now theyre so hard to understand." He bowed his head in sorrow, but rose it to look at the stars once again." But I promised my self one thing when he Rontustar made me an apprentice... and I wont break it.."

The cool lull that gleamed in her eyes seemed to echo as she brushed his pelt. She already had motherly instincts even through her worry and she used them when it called. With a sigh she gazed at the young tom with warmth glowing in her eyes, "Wishful thinking comes to us all Shadowpaw, but be proud of who you are now. It may be confusing but here we stand together through it all. You have a Clan to protect Shadowpaw and no matter how you wish you could go back," she looked up at the stars once more, "it won't change a thing, and if you were once more a kit it would only mean we would lose a vital rock that holds this mountain together."
With another sigh she gazed among the stars, picking out only a small few. She gazed onward as if memorizing them all with that swish she had about her this evening. When he spoke once more she looked down at him, curious as to what he meant. She felt no need to provoke him so she simply said as her whiskers gave a small flick, "Whatever that may be," she meowed softly, "I know you will never break it."
