His eyes lit up as the sun came up. He had sat up most the night worrying about his Clan's choice on if they will join with the other Clans. As the sun came over the mountains he rose from his den and came to the top of the Rockpile to look down on his Clan. Some cats were emerging from everywhere now. He sat there until the sun was higher and all were alive with bright eyes. In one yowl he spoke to his Clan, "All cats old enough to catch their own prey gather under the Rockpile for a Clan meeting."
She heard the call and struggled her way out of the nursery. With the small rays of light filtering through the nursery entrance she smiled at the warmth. A sigh and she sat near the Rockpile with her eyes bright as she starred up at her mate, Briarstar.

A grey figure walked out with his eyes dull but brightening as the suns warming rays woke the drowsy tom. Shadowpaw padded over to Fadedheart and greated her with a smile." Morning Fadedheart, slept well I hope?"
Sorrowpaw woke with swollen eyes like she always did. She had been crying, and yet she did it silently. She blinked away tears that still clung to her eye lids and streched her aching muscles. Then she remebered what had happened last night... I hope Briarstar changes his mind...We cannot do this alone... She thought and waited for her leader to speak...

Fadedheart almost let her eyes fade into sleep as she sat but she shook herself a bit. For a moment she felt the aches of the night and walk back home. She knew after this she wouldn't be able to travel far but that was ok with her. As she hear the voice she turned a bit, "Yes," she smiled, "Other than the thinking about the Creed."

Briarstar looked down at his Clan as they all appeared. He sighed as he went on with the business he dreaded, "At the gathering last night an apprentice from another Clan stated that all the Clans join together against the Creed. All of them agreed but I did not feel it was my place to make such a decision on my own." He looked at his Clan, strong about his choice, "If you say yes this means we as SkyClan will join together with RiverClan, ThunderClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan." His eyes moved across all who stood before him with an essence of premonition, "If this is what you want let it be so now. Speak now SkyClan."
(Sorry, was hoping the rest would show up. Also, who doesn't have a mentor?)

Sorrorwheart looked up at her leader and spoke with a strong look then nodded. " Briarstar, you must join with them. My father would know that the minute we found out about the creed. You were his apprentice, there for you should have known that as well..."
Shadowpaw nodded his approval. " Rontustar was wise and he made skyclan stronger then it ever was... If we wish to keep it that way we must join with the other clans."

Crosspaw the beast and the harlot -------------------------------------------------- this shining city built of goldCrosspaw had just entered the camp, her light brown fur shining in the sunlight. So what if she had went out of camp unnoticed? It wasn't like anyone would care. She only had a few select friends, and besides, she only wanted to have a little fun. She hadn't eaten anything; in fact, there was barely anything out there anyway. No one would probably even think twice about her appearing out of what would seem like nowhere. She let a smirk pull at her lips, remembering the gathering. She was glad that Briarstar hadn't voiced his choice yet, and that he had decided to wait for his Clan before making a decision. There must be others like me who don't want this! She thought this was true enough, but then again, she was the only one who thought like she did. She did not have a twin, nor did she have any siblings that were alive, except Tigerpaw, and her father, but she didn't consider them family, just like they ignored her.
She felt a low growl rise up in her throat thinking about Tigerpaw. She hated him, no matter what that would never, ever change. Not in a million moons. Her eyes narrowed, and she imagined her brother, his face prideful and mocking as he glared at her. Oh, how she would love to take him down a few notches, even if her father would reprimand her for it. She stifled a dark laugh, that would have surely made the Clan look at her like she was raving mad. Crosspaw didn't give a rat's tail about what her father thought, and what he would try to do to her. Maybe a good fight would get the pent up anger out of her system, and besides, it wouldn't look too good if they went off together and she came back with injuries. Then again, her father would end up having some wounds of his own. She thought for a moment, wondering how her father was still even in this Clan. Probably because of the 'I'm a good guy' acts he pulled, along with Tigerpaw. a far cry from innocenceShe snorted, audibly this time, walking towards rockpile where her leader was standing. Finally, the time to decide was upon them, and she already knew her answer and would voice it without a doubt. First, though, she would listen to some of her other Clanmates. She caught Fadedheart, Briarstar's mate, chatting with Shadowpaw, a fellow apprentice. She rolled her eyes, since he always seemed so polite. It didn't hurt to be rude once in awhile, and some cats deserved it too! She tuned in to their conversation, and once again let a smirk grace her maw. So she was thinking about the Creed, eh? We can take the Creed any day! At least that's what she thought. She took notice of how Sorrowheart's eyes were swollen. Probably crying again, she thought, not feeling the least bit of pity. Showing emotion was a weakness. Then again, the only emotions that could be considered weak were sadness, pity, love, loneliness, and fear.
"At the gathering last night an apprentice from another Clan stated that all the Clans join together against the Creed. All of them agreed but I did not feel it was my place to make such a decision on my own." Briarstar had begun to speak. Crosspaw sat down, waiting impatiently for her leader to continue. "If you say yes this means we as SkyClan will join together with RiverClan, ThunderClan, ShadowClan, and WindClan." he had waited a moment before choosing his words. Seeing what would appeal to his Clan, I guess. "If this is what you want let it be so now. Speak now SkyClan." He was letting them decide now! Crosspaw let the others speak before her, wanting to know what they thought. She didn't want the Clans to join up, and was hoping someone would agree with her. Then again, knowing her luck, no one would probably agree with her, especially her so-called family. there's more than meets the eye 'round hereShe watched Sorrowheart look up at her leader, her face a strong mask as she spoke. "Briarstar, you must join with them. My father would know that the minute we found out about the creed. You were his apprentice, there for you should have known that as well..." Now she's bringing her father into this. Her father is dead, and Briarstar is Briarstar. He is not a copy of Rontustar! Crosspaw once again snorted, smirk leaving her lips in place of a frown. What were cats thinking these days. Then again, she shouldn't be saying anything because she was most likely crazier than all of them. Of course, Shadowpaw was nodding his approval. Since she was so rude, she had the urge to shout out 'follower,' but resisted it. That would make her opinion not look too good, now would it. "Rontustar was wise and he made skyclan stronger then it ever was... If we wish to keep it that way we must join with the other clans." Now he was going to add something about Rontustar. That was just great.
The light brown she-cat let her light gray eyes rest on her leader, thinking over what she was about to say. She wanted to choose her words wisely, so she could appeal to the Clan. She wanted others to agree with her, not put her down like her father and brother. Who cares if she made a mistake now, her brother and father obviously though it was her fault her mother was dead, so it couldn't get worse, now could it? "Briarstar, I have a different view on this." she started, hesitant at first because she was speaking in front of so many other cats in her Clan. "Are we that weak that we need to join up with other Clans, just to stop one group of mangy, flea-bitten cats? I don't really think there is a need for us all to join up, since SkyClan is perfectly capable of caring for ourselves. We haven't even been attacked by the Creed yet anyway, and our warriors are strong, so do we really need the extra help?"
She ended her little speech with a question, wondering how he would answer it. She thought she had done well in the long run, and hopefully she had appealed to others. SkyClan was strong, and did not need help, or at least she thought so.

Briarstar felt this edging motion as they spoke of the leader, twice past. His hero was Rontustar but he was set aside as this disrespect had done to him. With a wide motion he swished his tail, "You speak of Rontustar as if he had lived and I understand if you believe him a better leader than I but I wish you would shw me enough respect not to count me as an idiot," he swerved one glance to Sorrowheart, "And if SkyClan is not strong because I am such a terrible leader I wish one of you stand here and ridicule your Clan by making that decision that is for them to make and not only yourself."
"Now, I understand for until the day I die you may ridicule me for not being him," he starred now at Crosspaw and nodded, "I understand what you mean, anyone with hope may say that and that is one thing I thought on all night. You do not know this but there was a cat here named Darkangel once. He was a kit of Creed," his voice was low as he revealed secrets of the past, "We took him and his mother in to the safety of our walls. Creed did not attack or show a sign of coming to our land so we became niave. He and his mother were attacked suddenly," his voice slowed as he remembered that bloody day, "It was a full fighting force and they killed his mother."
For a moment he held silence in his mind for her, no felicity for that time at all, "I understand, this may not make sense so let me elaberate," he sighed as he grazed over his Clan, "I thought last night as some that the past is gone, but then if we are left we are the ones open for attack more than before. We aren't anywhere close to be able to run for help if they brought the full of Creed upon us. Do not be foolish thinking we are almighty, but do not be foolish and rest your head on another's shoulder too many times. So, Crosspaw you could be right and we may be fine, but then maybe they would grin at us and know our weakness."
"Whatever is done I ask you to have enough respect for yourself and for others to keep your head high but still keep your wits about you."

Crosspaw the beast and the harlot -------------------------------------------------- look to the waters of the deepCrosspaw felt satisfied that she had been able to speak, and that no one had yet to throw away her opinion. She let a small smile grace her lips as she stared back up at her leader with an unwavering, light gray gaze. She knew that she may have had some things wrong, seeing as she really knew nothing about the Creed, but oh well. Let someone go up there and correct me if I am wrong, she thought smugly. SkyClan does not need the extra help. Sure, she wasn't all to strong, but she did not want to have to rely on the other Clans for protection. Already, two of the cats here were trying to get Briarstar to agree to the joining of the Clans, but in a way, they were putting him down. No leader should have to rely on another Clan, should they. Crosspaw wasn't old enough to really understand the ways of the leaders, but she knew that they were cats that others could be proud of, cats that could protect their Clan.
They talk of Rontustar like he is still alive, and are trying to challenge Briarstar's dominance. They are trying to make him into a replica of him, are they not? Her thoughts wrapped around that topic, seeing as already two cats were comparing him to the long deceased SkyClan leader, Rontustar. Did they want Rontustar alive so badly that they had to try and make Briarstar into him? It's pitiful, she thought, snorting in amusement. Again, Briarstar is Briarstar, she repeated. She looked up at her leader, wondering what he would say next. Was he a little upset about how much they wanted him to act like Rontustar, or was he okay with it? What if they were wrong? What if Rontustar didn't want to join either? Maybe he would have agreed with her, Crosspaw, on the matter of joining together. She gave a quick glance at Sorrowheart, wondering what had caused her to say what she had. Maybe it's family loyalty, but I wouldn't know that because my family hates me, she growled inwardly. a city of evilCrosspaw caught sight of Briarstar's tail, lashing once in a gracefully smooth motion. A moment after, he began to speak. "You speak of Rontustar as if he had lived and I understand if you believe him a better leader than I but I wish you would show me enough respect not to count me as an idiot," he stated, and at this Crosspaw snorted inaudibly. Ha, that will teach them, she thought. She held a certain amount of for her leader, and did not want to see him put down in place of a dead cat. "And if SkyClan is not strong because I am such a terrible leader I wish one of you stand here and ridicule your Clan by making that decision that is for them to make and not only yourself." At this, Crosspaw rolled her eyes. Who would think that Briarstar was a terrible leader? Obviously if he was picked to be deputy before, then he had the makings of a great leader, not some idiot cat who can't provide for his clan. All in all, Crosspaw thought Briarstar was a pretty good leader to have.
"Now, I understand for until the day I die you may ridicule me for not being him," he said, nodding at Crosspaw. Crosspaw wanted to jump up and down because he had actually listened, but she resisted the urge. No one had ever really listened to her before, so this was a first. "I understand what you mean, anyone with hope may say that and that is one thing I thought on all night. You do not know this but there was a cat here named Darkangel once. He was a kit of Creed," his voice was low as he spoke, telling her of a time that she hadn't known of. She listened carefully, not wanting to miss a single word. "We took him and his mother in to the safety of our walls. Creed did not attack or show a sign of coming to our land so we became naive. He and his mother were attacked suddenly," his voice now slowed a little, as he seemed to be remembering the time. "It was a full fighting force and they killed his mother." Crosspaw felt slightly bad for him, but she showed no sigh except for a small flash of emotion in her eyes. there sat a seven-headed beastHe stayed silent for a moment, most likely grieving for the she-cat. "I understand, this may not make sense so let me elaborate," he sighed, his eyes glancing over his Clan. She thought she understood him to a certain extent, but she listened anyway. "I thought last night as some that the past is gone, but then if we are left we are the ones open for attack more than before. We aren't anywhere close to be able to run for help if they brought the full of Creed upon us. Do not be foolish thinking we are almighty, but do not be foolish and rest your head on another's shoulder too many times. So, Crosspaw you could be right and we may be fine, but then maybe they would grin at us and know our weakness." Maybe, she thought. He had considered what she had said, and for that she was grateful. No one really listened to what she said, since she didn't have many friends.
"Whatever is done I ask you to have enough respect for yourself and for others to keep your head high but still keep your wits about you." She nodded her head, acknowledging that she had listened to him and understood. She had never known that SkyClan had such a terrible history, and for that she was glad that they had come through all right. SkyClan must have grown stronger from then though, right? She pondered over this, but could not find an answer. She gazed at her leader, thinking over what she might say, if she was to say anything at all. "I understand, Briarstar." she meowed. "I may be wrong, and we may not be able to fight all of the Creed." she continued. "I can also understand why others want to join up, because of what you have just told us now." She shot a look at Sorrowheart and Shadowpaw, though her look was blank, just indicating that those were the two that had wanted to join. "You are a good leader, and I expect that you will think over your options carefully, making sure that you are making the right decision." she mewed, bowing her head in respect.

Shadowpaw now stood on his feet his teeth in a growl." I never ridiculed you Briarstar. I simply stated a fact that supported my opinion. Never think of me to insult you other than now for if you cannot decifer such a small thing the right way then how could you make a choice that could be the survival or detruction of skyclan when you dont have the time to ask your clan what to do as you are doing now? What if all you could do was pray to starclan and hope that your past mentor had an answer for you? Never say that I dont respect you... and dont you dare, compare your hardship as a leader to him." Sorrowpaw nodded as he spoke then she copied his tone and spoke as well." You have only ever had one mate Briarstar. He watched his two die by the likes of a killer. Before that he fought day and night to keep this very clan sane and in order as they tried to rip each other apart. Do you remeber that day Briarstar? When my father, Fadedheart or Fadedpaw at the time, and yourself went out to search for the battle party that was on its way to destroy skyclan because my mother was saved by starclan for some reason?" Shadowpaw spoke again." He chose you because he saw what you could be Briarstar. You were lucky, that they left before you could see them... I on the other hand, saw the party with my own eyes. Skyclan would not be standing here today had they not turned back around and gone home..." Both apprentices stood there, anger flaring and every word and flick of the tail. Then they spoke in unison." You say we we ridicule you. Briarstar we are just stating that you, of all cats, should of learned what he has tought you especialy. The clan learned from the orders he gaves us... You had the chance to learn from the lessons he taught you or actions he used to train you... When will you show us what he tought you??"

He turned to Crosspaw and nodded his head but then the other cats made his fur prickle. His soft green eyes turned to a blaze he had never shown a single soul before. With his eyes flaring he lifted himself up and starred at them. A yowl echoed from his tabby throat, "You say you do not ridicule me but you state again that I do not know what I am doing. "When will you show us what he taught you?" Hypoctites! When have you led ungrateful cats into an unknown future. Maybe I am lucky but I am not a fool!"
Furry burned through him like death as he hissed his words clearly. Without warning he went on as he turned to Shadowpaw with a snarl, "Do not threaten me when you tell me not to "dare" compare. I never said my life was as hard because this isn't about me, so hold your tongue and be happy I asked my Clan what they wanted since I know you have independance and a voice that needs to be heard."
His poison gaze turned to Sorrowpaw now, "Do not bring Fadedheart into this because I know I only have one mate. I am sorry I have had a lucky life," the hiss lingered into a snarl as he watched them both, "You miss him and act as if I don't but I never knew a tom like him. He was the only father I knew and he wasn't even mine, so I am sorry if I don't show you my past when I speak of the present and make him seem gone in my words but I am only trying to hide my stress for you. Bravo, you have now seen it! Hold your tongues and swallow your disrespect for a while. If you want me to make decisions that effect SkyClan without SkyClan so be it, from now on you will get what you want."
As his chest heaved she looked in awe. She had never seen her mate this frightening. Her small legs slowly backed away and her bright eyes filled as she watched him. This state of him frightened her and made her feel unsafe. What had made him snap? The apprentices made him furious and she knew why but he usual kept himself calm, but now he was deepening in anger. Almost to the nursery and his voice made her jump, "Sorrowpaw, Fadedheart," his voice echoed angrily, "You are in charge until I return. Crosspaw shall come with me."
Briarstar stepped down and flicked his tail to Crosspaw and waited by the entrance, needing time to cool down. He had made his decision like they wanted and if it would be so StarClan let it. His eyes were dull now as he remembered things they would never know and he would never tell.

Crosspaw the beast and the harlot -------------------------------------------------- ten horns raised from his headShe did truly respect here leader, though sometimes she didn't act like it. Briarstar was a leader for a reason, and he had the right to make a decision without the Clan telling him what Rontustar would have done. Her gaze hardened, and she stifled a growl. She had never known Rontustar, but she didn't care. He was just a dead cat who now lived in StarClan. If he worried about his Clan so much, why didn't he just give the medicine cat a message or something? Crosspaw thought about what else the others had said. Again, what if Rontustar didn't want to join if he was still alive? What would they do then? Would they beg him to, just because they were scared of the Creed. No, they wouldn't question him like how they question Briarstar. She narrowed her eyes. She knew that sometimes decisions were hard to make, but arguing with your leader about it really made it seemed like you didn't trust them.
She let out an inaudible growl, her lips coming up slightly to reveal a little bit of her sharp, white teeth. She watched as Shadowpaw stood up, his teeth bared in a growl. She stood as well, though she did not say a thing. Instead, she waited to hear what he was going to say. "I never ridiculed you Briarstar. I simply stated a fact that supported my opinion. Never think of me to insult you other than now for if you cannot decipher such a small thing the right way then how could you make a choice that could be the survival or destruction of SkyClan when you don't have the time to ask your clan what to do as you are doing now? What if all you could do was pray to StarClan and hope that your past mentor had an answer for you? Never say that I don't respect you... and don't you dare, compare your hardship as a leader to him." She saw Sorrowpaw nod, and she resisted the hiss that started to emit from her throat. Yet again, you say you aren't comparing him, but you are, she thought angrily. symbolic woman sits on his throne"You have only ever had one mate Briarstar. He watched his two die by the likes of a killer. Before that he fought day and night to keep this very clan sane and in order as they tried to rip each other apart. Do you remember that day Briarstar? When my father, Fadedheart or Fadedpaw at the time, and yourself went out to search for the battle party that was on its way to destroy SkyClan because my mother was saved by StarClan for some reason?" She even copied Shadowpaw's tone of voice. Now the low growl she had let out before became audible, and it came from deep within her throat. Still, though, she did not speak. She did not deem them worthy enough to speak to. Shadowpaw opened his mouth again to speak, and once again, Crosspaw resisted the urge to snarl. "He chose you because he saw what you could be Briarstar. You were lucky, that they left before you could see them... I on the other hand, saw the party with my own eyes. SkyClan would not be standing here today had they not turned back around and gone home..." he stated. The light brown she-cat's tail lashed, and it was a wonder at how she hadn't yet interrupted them.
"You say we we ridicule you. Briarstar we are just stating that you, of all cats, should of learned what he has taught you especially. The clan learned from the orders he gave us... You had the chance to learn from the lessons he taught you or actions he used to train you... When will you show us what he taught you?" They had spoken in unison, and she rolled her eyes. It's like they've practiced it! Her hackles rose, and she bared her teeth in a snarl. Her ears lay flat against her head in anger, and she glared at the two. She looked up at Briarstar, wondering how he would react. He emitted a loud yowl. "You say you do not ridicule me but you state again that I do not know what I am doing." Oh boy, he was angry. "Maybe I am lucky but I am not a fool!" She heard his voice echo around the clearing, and for once, she was the tiniest bit surprised. She knew he was going to be angry, but not this angry. but hatred strips her and leaves her nakedSuddenly, he spun around and snarled at Shadowpaw. "Do not threaten me when you tell me not to "dare" compare. I never said my life was as hard because this isn't about me, so hold your tongue and be happy I asked my Clan what they wanted since I know you have independence and a voice that needs to be heard." He turned to Sorrowpaw now. "Do not bring Fadedheart into this because I know I only have one mate. I am sorry I have had a lucky life," His hiss changed into a snarl as he gazed at them both. Bravo, you have now seen it! Hold your tongues and swallow your disrespect for a while. If you want me to make decisions that effect SkyClan without SkyClan so be it, from now on you will get what you want." Crosspaw stared at Briarstar, wondering how much more he was going to say.
The light brown she-cat saw Fadedheart start to back away, her eyes filling with tears. Was she afraid of him? She saw Fadedheart jump at her mate's voice. "Sorrowpaw, Fadedheart," he began angrily. "You are in charge until I return. Crosspaw shall come with me." The apprentice's eyes widened in surprise, not expecting to be called on. She followed when he flicked his tail at her to follow, her pace a little faster than most because of her short legs. He waited at the entrance for her, and she arrived shortly after he had. He obviously was still angry, but why he had chosen her to come was a mystery. Why not his mate, Fadedheart. Then again, she was probably close to kitting. She looked at him, waiting for him to lead the way.

His eyes slowed in a lulling fashion as he starred at the sky in search of calm. In his eyes he felt the anger fading and when he saw Crosspaw he nodded to her, "We are going to WindClan," he sighed a bit as he rose to head out, "We may hunt on the way if you like but I wish to make this a quick journey and I know you can keep up."

Sorrowpaw didnt aknowledge that she had heard him. The apprentice just padded over to Fadedheart and licked her on the head." Its okay, I hope hell apoligize to you when he returns..."
Shadowpaw growled at Briarstar." You are a fool Briarstar!! To scar your mate? To think it is pure luck that has givin you the life you have?! My friend, that is not luck. There is no such thing... There is either a reason for any thing good, and sometimes bad as well... Luck didnt give you the chance to be a leader. You are a fool, Briarstar.. and I will not be led by one." Shadowpaw raked his claws across the earthy floor and then ran into out of the clearing and into the distance.

Fadedheart nodded to the young she-cat, still in a trance. She looked away for a moment, "I know why he is so upset," her voice was soft as she spoke, "It's not at either of you. He could never be."
Her eyes went to a distant hope as she felt the wind wrap around her. Cold air took her breath as she felt the warmth of saddness choke her. In her mind she saw him as he once was, but as a changing tom still. Her voice was slow as she went on, "It is something that he will never speak of and it is not against Rontustar and not against you or Shadowpaw but against himself. I feel his fight with himself will be his final death, Sorrowpaw."
She was fond of both apprentices, finding them kind and warming but she didn't know what else to tell her to calm the situation down. Truthfully Briarstar was known for his calm approach and this out of character snap was frightening. When she heard Shadowpaw and saw him run she started to chase after him, "No! Shadow-"
Her voice stopped and every step she took a sharp pain shot through her fragile body. She tried so hard to reach the tom but he was out of sight. Soon she collapsed to the ground and wailed loudly. Fadedheart's heart was racing as she felt her stomach heave a great pain. Another wail and she pulled herself up to only just enter into the nursery before collapsing again.

Sorrowheart ran into the nursery after the she cat." The kits are coming arnt they?" She asked panicing. " The medicene cat is out collecting herbs in the moutnains..." Oh starclan help me!!
Shadowpaw kept on running. That is not the Skyclan I grew up to know... That is not the Skyclan I promised to protect... Tears flowed from his narrowed eyes. Im not going back...
